Yalini Dream is a cultural worker, performing artist, organizer, somatics practitioner, educator, and consultant who reshapes reality and transforms culture, seeking peace through justice in lands of earth, psyche, body, and dream. In 1986, Bernice Johnson Reagon wrote “Cultural workers have an element of transformation in all their work. Their role was to resolve conflict, and to maintain, sometimes create, an identity that was independent of a society organized for the exploitation of natural resources, people, and land.” Yalini draws upon the legacies of cultural work to support the strategic alignment of intention, word, action, and impact. She has over 25 years of experience engaging creative and physical practice for healing, organizing, and encouraging dignity in communities contending with violence and oppression. For 15 years she studied with Emory M. Moore Jr., MSME/T, in his somatics system EM life work The Way of Body Harmony. After seven years of consulting with Vision Change Win, Yalini has recently started Potency, her own cultural work, coaching, and consulting practice — offering potent interventions for liberatory and prosperous futures. Potency is currently working on a decolonial feminist epic “History of the Kiss” and a toolkit to support cultural workers in subverting polarization within conditions of coordinated disinformation and authoritarianism. Potency also supports values-driven leaders, organizations, businesses, and ecosystems to align their vision and impact.
