Pathways of Dance and Somatics

With Diego Pizarro
Hosted by Gayatri Maya Andersson-Schriefer, MSME

Join this session for a discussion on aspects of Somatics in Brazil, from the birth of local unique approaches to the arrival of imported methods. Furthermore, as one native participant of this fruitful and developing landscape, Diego Pizarro will present how the practices of somatic dances developed in the intersections of BodyMindCentering® and Muscle and Articulation Chains method (GDS) embodied anatomies.

In This Session:

  • Aspects on the development of Somatics in Brazil and its role within South America
  • Perspectives on the integration of Somatics within dance creative processes
  • Considerations on how to be in this world as part of a transdisciplinary field of deep ecology as a global community, honouring cultural differences and similarities
The views expressed are specific to the author/speaker and may vary from the perspectives of The Shift Network's participants, staff, or other speakers.
